Renewable Energy (Solar, wind and battery)
Renewable Energy (Solar, wind and battery)
Training Dates 11/11/2024 - 22/11/2024
Training Location Melbourne, Australia

South Asian nations face the dual challenges of meeting growing energy demand while transitioning to cleaner and more sustainable low-cost energy sources. In the face of increasing amounts of carbon emissions and unreliable access to energy, renewable solar and wind backed up with batteries can provide energy security, power storage and generation, and support sustainable economic and social development.

This short course training on Renewable Energy aims to do the following for its participants:

  • Enhance knowledge and address skill gaps reported by projects of the World Bank and IFC leading to holistic capacity building of the participants relating to renewable energy (solar and wind) production and use, particularly in relation to technology integration, securing grid capacity, regulation, financing and development of industry ecosystem.
  • Provide individuals with increased knowledge and exposure to a wider set of relationships, including with Australian industry and government.

After the program, the participants are expected to engage in a applied learning phase called SARIC in Workplace (Siw). The SiW plan refers to the return-to-work plan that aims to apply the knowledge and skills gained through the training after the participant has returned to their work.

Through a combination of lectures, site visits, industry engagement and interactive discussions, the participants will benefit from:

  • Increased awareness of the international experience in developing solar, wind and battery projects including understanding of integrating renewable energy into existing grid, planning and procurement risks, identifying opportunities for distributive community-based projects, and technology solutions.
  • Skill and knowledge enhancement on issues critical to planning, developing, integrating, regulating and financing solar, wind and battery developments.
  • Understanding of enabling policies and regulations designed to support renewable energy projects.
  • Relationships and networking that fosters coalitions and a greater willingness within government to explore new ways of working.
